Re-gifting

I personally have nothing against re-gifting and I think the shame around it stems from our commercial and competitive nature in a capitalistic society. In other words, it stems from wanting to keep up with the Jones's.

So, how do we re-gfit? Well, obviously do not give the gift back to the person who gave it to you.

First, give it to someone you know will really appreciate the gift and use it. (And someone who won't be around the person who gave it to you).

Secondly, re-wrap it in some nice new wrapping paper. (If you don't have any or can't afford it use a nice piece of material and ribbon).

What counts as a good re-gift? That is debatable. I've been reading some articles today concerning it and most say the gift should be brand new, never used, never opened. I think in the cases of food or perfume this would be most definate. In the case of movies, books, or clothing I don't see anything wrong with re-gifting them so long as they are in good condition. Obviously, if the dog has chewed the lastest copy of "How to win friends and influence people" you may want to save the influence for his digestive track. (Disclaimer: Please do not feed your dog non-food items or anything other then puppy food. ) However, if the movie, book, or clothing item is in good condition polish it up, put it in a nice box, and wrap nicely. Clothing should not have any stains, tears, or missing items.

If you're feeling short of gifts of this year, do not have the finances, but still want to make sure your family still receives a well thought gift look around and see what you have. Creativity goes a long way. And to be honest, it is the thought behind the gift that counts most. If people are keeping "monetary" or "numerical" tabs on your gifts they are just plain being a scrooge.

Epsom Salt Baths (Quick and Easy Gift)

The following is my own personal way of doing bathsalts. They make quick and easy gifts, and are great for those of us on tight-budgets. Your children will also enjoy getting involved.

Materials Needed:

stage 1 baby food jars (empty and cleaned)

1 bag of epsom salts (generally a 1-2 pound bag is fine)

food coloring

glue

squares of various material cut to cover the lids (2x2 suffices)

colored yarn (6-8 inch cuttings seem to produce a nice size bow but play around for desired effect)

Instructions:

Depending upon how many colors you want have one mixing bowl for each desired color filled with epsom salt. (Just divide the epsom salts between the various bowls).

Add drops of food coloring until desired color is reached. (Kids will have fun mixing the coloring in with the salt).

You can either fill each jar with one solid color or create layers.

Pop on baby food jar lid on.

Glue center of fabric square to top of lid.

Using yarn wrap the yarn around the baby food lid and tie in a bow. (This will give you the look of an old fashioned mason jar top that our grandma's use to put on their perserves. This part may be difficult for young children so a trick is to center the yarn yourself and glue it down on one side so all they have to do is tie the bow.)

As an added touch you can create direction notes and attach them as a name card (1-2 tsp per bath is nice).

About llady

Hello,

My mother has always took and gave her entire life to family and others.

I hope there is someone listening and reading a prayer that I have for my mom.

She wore braces when she was 14 and her mom could not afford or lacked her

monthly visit. My mom ended up having to remove them her self. Mom said the

the wires would pop and cut her mouth up. My mom has made sure her children’s

teeth have always been kept up. She doesn’t have no spear money to even start

to repair her teeth. My mom walks around everyday. With a smile but want show

her teeth. My mom works in the medical field and gives her helping hands to every

patient she can help with finance problems. But mom only works part time just to

keep a job. They cut back her hours to 20 hours a week. She has always cared for

the entire family. But she hurts all the time for bad teeth. She told me one day her

wish is to have her teeth fixed. She want laugh in front of anyone. If she starts to

laugh she turns her head. I could only imaged how beautiful my mom would be.

I hope if there is anyone out there, that may be able to help her. She deserves

it. She would help someone if she could. She is inspired by a saying the world

has so much sickness and the biggest one is someone feeling unloved. That’s

why mom always makes someone feel so important. This was told by Princess Diana.

You can reach me at llady1961@tampabay.rr.com. Please if your reading this. I need

someone that could give me some advise on how to help my mom.

Mothers Day Wish for my mom.

HELLO IF ANY ONE CAN PLEASE SHARE SOME HELP OR EVEN TELL WHERE I CAN CALL WRITE EMAIL OR WHAT EVER TO GET A GRANT, MY STORY IS I AM A 31 YR OLD FEMALE WHO WANTS TO BE A MOM ME AND MY HUSBAND HAVE BEEN MARRIED FOR 4 YEARS AND WE CAN NOT HAVE ANY CHILDREN WE HAVE BEEN THROUGH SO MUCH AND IT ALL SEAMS TO FAIL WE TRIED FERTILITY PILLS, IVFS, EGG DONOR, EVEN TRIED ADOPTION AND SEEMS LIKE THERE IS NO END I PRAY EVERYNIGHT TO BECOME A MOM AND MY STORY GOES ON TO A SAY STORY THAT HAS NO END YET.

I felt like I was in a coma. 2005, I was pumping 200 times the hormones of a normal pregnant woman into her body every day, hoping an embryo would implant. I had spent years trying to have a baby and had gone through four in-vitro fertilizations.

The hormones thickened MY blood and left ME exhausted, sluggish. I risked a stroke or heart attack.

This fourth try at in-vitro would be their last.

Money for the $10,000 procedures was running out. So was hope that they’d ever have a child of their own.

The LOCAL MISSISSIPPI  couple had dreamed of joining the many newlyweds who start families right away. But as years passed and children didn’t come, they tried other ways to become parents.

Their desire would take them on a quest, a seemingly impossible journey of joy and anguish that would lead them across the country, chasing their last hope for a child. BY 2005, they were both 30 and decided they couldn’t wait any longer. They’d take matters into their own hands, find their own baby.

That spring, through connections at MY SISTERS church in INDIANA., they talked with a young couple in CONNERSVILLE  who agreed to let them adopt their baby.

They were BABYS  themselves, really. Pregnant with a little GIRL WE DIDN'T CARE AS LONG AS WE WAS BLESSED WITH A BABY THEY WERE  very scared, and with little commitment to each other.

The two couples talked on the phone and e-mailed back and forth. WE WENT TO INDIANA 12 HOURS AWAY  for a week, and the birth parents spent a week visiting US IN MISSISSIPPI.

All four grew close.

“As soon as I met them for the first time, I knew it was meant to be; that he was going to be ours,”

WE  busied OUR selves buying baby items and preparing a nursery for ABIGALE , as they decided to call their DAUGHTER .

They cleared out the guest bedroom and painted it YELLOW  with PINK accents. I  pored over books about children’s brain development, learning what type of toys and discipline were appropriate for each stage.

I told everyone at church that their prayers were finally being answered.

The birth mother had even asked US  to be there when she delivered and agreed to call when it was time.

One midweek morning in 2005, the phone rang.

On the other end of the line was the young father’s mother, but she didn’t sound like an overjoyed new grandma should. The baby had come overnight, she said.

And the birth mom just couldn't do it — couldn't go through with the adoption.

They were sorry — so sorry, she said.

WE  sat together and cried among the bags they had packed for the trip to INDIANA

I curled up in her bed to weep. MY HUSBAND  went to THE GYM to LIFT t a couple hundred POUNDS.

Later, I  called their pastor and he came over to talk and pray by their side. the rest of that day and the ones that followed passed in a daze. I  isolated MY self to sort through MY  emotions. Friends and family sent cards expressing their condolences. They gave the couple gift certificates to go out to dinner and have some quiet time together.

About a week later, the birth mother called.

For the next month or two, WE  secretly kept thinking the newness would wear off and the young couple would call and offer them the baby.

Finally, she convinced herself they weren't going to change their minds.

"To me, it felt like I had had a baby and SHE  had died," she said. "I had been carrying HER around in my heart as if he had died." WELL THAT WAS THE END OF OUR JOUNEY WE COULD NOT TAKE NO MORE AND 2005 WAS ABOUT TO BE OVER SO WE THOUGHT MAYBE A NEW YEAR WELL LOOSING MY FATHER IN FEBUARY AND MY HUSBAND MOTHER 1 MONTH AGO I FEEL AS I NEED TO TRY ONE MORE TIME SO HERE WE ARE AND WE SEEKING ANY ADVICE, HELP, DONATION ANY THING OR IF YOU KNOW SOMEONE WHO WANTS TO ADOPT THERE BABY WE WOULD BE BLESSED WE ARE LOVING HONORABLE CHRISTIAN PEOPLE WHO WANT TO BE PARENTS.

GOD BLESS
